Privacy Notice

The short version

We run an information website. We do not take payments, we do not hold accounts, and we do not want your medical information. What we collect is the ordinary technical exhaust of a web server plus whatever you choose to put in an email to us.

What we collect

Automatically

Our host records standard server logs: IP address, browser and operating system, the page you requested, the page you arrived from, and the time. This is how every web server on the internet works, and it is what lets us tell that a page is broken.

Because you sent it

If you email us, we hold your message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you write again. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Analytics

We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count page views and see which pages people actually read. It is aggregate reporting and it is not used to build a profile of you.

What we do not collect

• Payment details. There is no checkout here. Card details go to the seller's payment processor and never touch this site.
• Health information. Please do not send us your medical history. If a message needs medical detail to make sense, remove anything identifying first.
• Anything from children. This site is for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18.

Cookies and similar

The site itself sets no cookie you would notice, and nothing on it requires one to function. An affiliate link may set a cookie recording that you arrived from here, which is how commission is attributed. Any embedded third-party content may set its own. Your browser can block all of it, and this site will still work.

Who else gets it

Our hosting provider processes the data needed to serve the site. An analytics provider, if used, processes aggregate usage. Nobody buys or sells your data through us because we do not have anything worth selling. We would disclose information if the law required it, and we would tell you unless prevented from doing so.

Where it is held, and for how long

Servers in the United States. Server logs are retained for a short operational period and then discarded on the host's ordinary cycle. Email correspondence is kept while it is useful and deleted when it is not.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to processing, or to receive a copy. Write to [email protected] and we will deal with it. We do not charge for this and we do not treat anyone differently for asking.

Californian residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under state law, and we do not run cross-context behavioural advertising.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we keep the software behind it current. No system is perfect and we will not pretend otherwise. The best protection available to you is that we deliberately hold very little.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be described on the page rather than slipped in.
